Aylin's Favourite Islamic Books
.......🌺🌺🌺 🌺.......... 1. Mommy's Khimar by Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow 2. It's Ramadan, Curious George by H.A.Rey and Hena Khan
👆These two are currently Aylin's favourite Islamic books!
And can you imagine that the first one I found at our local library! We usually go to the library a lot, and almost never see Islamic children's books (this was one of the reasons we started our book writing journey 😊)And this little beauty was in the featured section 😍 I signed out the book right away without checking the inside. Mashallah when we came home and read this book it turned out to be so beautifully written and illustrated! Especially, if you are a hijabi yourself and have a daughter! They talk about that special bond only mothers and daughters have between each other and hijab is a crucial part of it 🤗Although this book is intended for older children than Aylin (3 years old), she absolutely loved it! I just had to break down some complicated sentences and concepts. Don't want to write a lot, but highly recommend this book! . The second book I intentionally bought from Amazon after seeing it couple times in my feed. Again, beautifully written in rhymes, has some humour, and introduces Ramadan to children in the most positive way! It is also a board book! As a parent you can also pair it up with some activities that are illustrated in the book: baking moon shaped cookies, having pizza and chocolate covered bananas for iftar, making donation boxes for needy people, etc. Aylin is still too little to fully grasp the whole concept of Ramadan but I think this book is a great first step 💕 . . .
